CLASS SCHEDULE

WEEK 1 – We will become familiar with the overall song, and learn the signs for the first three lines.

Let’s start at the very beginning
A very good place to start
When you read you begin with ABC

WEEK 2 – We will learn the rest of the first verse, and utilize specific training techniques to get your hands comfortable signing quickly.

When you sing you begin with do re mi, do re mi
The first three notes just happen to be do re mi

WEEK 3 – In this lesson, we not practice signing to the song, we also start making up silly sign sentences from the lyrics and sign them to each other silently.

Doe, a deer, a female deer
Ray, a drop of golden sun
Me, a name I call myself
Far, a long, long way to run

WEEK 4 – This is a review session. You will be given each word from the lyrics and will be asked to show their signs. You will also identify how you are doing with signing the words with the song. By the end of this lesson you will have answers and solutions to the following questions: How many signs per line can you typically acheive? Are they fluid? Which words do you struggle most with? Which training techniques will help you sign this song better?

REVIEW
No new signs

WEEK 5 – We continue on with learning the signs to the lyrics. This lesson focuses on the second half of the chorus and fluidity.

Sew, a needle pulling thread
La, a note to follow sew
Tea, a drink with jam and bread
That will bring us back to doe

WEEK 6 – You will learn the last verse to the song and practice silly, silent, sign sentences.

When you know the notes to sing
You can sing most anything
All together now

WEEK 7 – Although there are not any more new words for this song, there are some sounds to learn how to sign. There is also a new version of signs you already know, and they are super fast in the song, so we will learn how to make your sentences, fast, yet still clear. In addition we will have a review of the signs learned in weeks five – seven.

SOUNDS
Dum, Da, Mmmm, Ohhhh, Ahhh, Oh, Cha, Ha

NEW VERSION
Doe me me
Me sew sew
Ray far far
La tea tea

REVIEW

WEEK 8 – In this final lesson we will practice signing to the song several times, and then you will be given a part to sign for the other participants.

FINAL REVIEW
PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER
No new signs

* NOTE: When this class ends, there will be two weeks before the next Sing-Sign begins. VoiceSign still holds Zoom sessions during this time. They are called ZoomBetweens, and are an opportunity for people to practice conversation signing, ask questions about any sign topic, and learn different tid-bits about signing you would not necessarily learn in a more structured class. ZoomBetweens are open to anyone, whether a current student or a possible soon-to-be student.

June 2, 2021 @ 7:00 pm 8:00 pm MDT

This is where it all begins! In this class, you will learn the building blocks VoiceSign uses to create the sign system, along with approximately 300 common signs. By the end of the second week, you will be signing complete sentences already!

Included with this class are study materials. Each week you will have access to the following:

– LESSON SHEETS which contain the words from each lesson, bonus words, and an average of 30 example sentences you can sign with the words you have learned, and helpful tips for practicing throughout the week.
